I come from Montreal, Quebec. Because of this rich multicultural l background, I
developed an early interest in traveling. I spent a year in France working in a French family and studying French at the Alliance Francais in the afternoons. After returning from France with more confidence in my conversational skills, I then started six years of post secondary education. My majors were in English and drama. While in school, I developed a passion for theatre and after I married and moved to Alberta, I volunteered for many years directing several community theatre productions for adults and children. At the same time, I brought up two daughters who are well on their way in life. One daughter works on the big island of Hawaii and the other daughter is studying Physics Engineering at UBC. As well as a passion for traveling, other passions include: reading, yoga, and gourmet cooking. I believe a well rounded teacher needs to have many interests and a sensitivity for cultural diversity.
My professional qualifcations include: a Diploma in Arts and Science from Humber
College in Rexdale, Ontario, a Bachelor of Fine Arts, from Concordia University, and a
Diploma in Education from McGill University. As well, I have TESL certifcation. I have
BC and Alberta teaching licenses.
With a Diploma in Education from McGill, I was able to start my teaching career and for five years taught English, drama, and social studies at the junior high school level. We moved and while living in Calgary, I taught English to adults in the evenings. Later, when we moved again to Canmore, Alberta, I started working for the Canadian Rockies School Division in a variety of levels including Early Childhood Education, elementary,(as a generalist) and high school (in English and social studies). Later, I became involved in teaching split levels from kindergarten to grade seven at a privately owned, parent operated school in Canmore. After that, I taught ESL for two years at another small, independent private school for young adults from around the world. Before relocating to Victoria, I spent a year as the English specialist for all levels at Ecole Notre Dames Des Monts in Canmore. My diverse teaching background has taught me to be a friendly, open-minded teacher, dedicated to providing students with rich and meaningful learning experiences.

English, drama, social studies, early childhood education, reading intervention,
and ESL.

I am fully qualified to teach all subject areas up to sixth grade.

I hired Jacqueline last summer to tutor my daughter in reading comprehension and writing skills. Jacqueline was a friendly, motivating and talented teacher who genuinely cared about her student.
